The Recreational Boating Research Network is an offering of
the Recreational Marine Research Center at Michigan State University.
It was made possible because of a grant from the U.S. Coast Guard and
continuing support of National Marine Manufacturers Association and
the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station.
The Research Center was developed in response to numerous requests for
a convenient way to search, access and, obtain recreational boating studies.
The purposes of the Research Network are to:
1. enhance awareness of the diversity of boating studies being conducted
by universities, agencies, organizations and also private business es,
2. maintain and make conveniently accessible a contemporary listing
of recreational boating studies,
3. encourage greater coordination and consistently (e.g., definitions)
across boating studies and,
4. encourage discussion among boating researchers and research clients.
The Recreational Boating Research Network has these elements:
1. an on-line data base of recreational boating studies and abstracts,
2. a search (title, author) capability,
3. registered users can submit boating studies to be included the on-line database,
4. a research discussion group,
5. listing of funding available to support boating research, and
6. an on-line Boating Research Newsletter.
Access to the on-line data base and search capability is available
to all users. However, you must be registered to submit studies,
participate in the Boating Research Discussion Group, or to receive our newsletter.
